With the goal of aligning with the 2050 carbon neutrality initiative and contributing to greenhouse gas reduction, the mobility market is undergoing a significant transformation towards eco-friendly energy sources such as electric and hydrogen.

Able Motors, led by CEO Lee Kwang-ho, is actively participating in this environmentally conscious shift within the mobility sector. The company places a strong emphasis on developing products that not only cater to the market's demand but also align with the ongoing eco-friendly trend.

Currently, Able Motors is engaged in the development of a diverse range of vehicles, including carts, robotic platforms, street-cleaning electric vehicles, Micro Electric Vehicles (MEVs), AI-based autonomous street-cleaning electric vehicles, electric motorcycles, ATVs, scooters, and more. Additionally, the company is actively pursuing the development of crucial mobility components such as Vehicle Control Units (VCUs), Electric Power Steering (EPS) controllers, battery power generation systems, and transmissions.

Furthermore, Able Motors has revealed plans to collaborate with domestic partners for the development of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) autonomous driving system tailored for low-speed electric vehicles. This marks a significant step towards enhancing the intelligence and autonomy of their electric vehicles, especially those designed for low-speed urban environments. As the mobility market evolves towards a sustainable and environmentally friendly future, Able Motors stands at the forefront, addressing both the need for eco-conscious transportation solutions and the evolving demands of the market.

In the pursuit of creating personal transportation devices, CEO Lee Kwang-ho of Able Motors places safety as the foremost priority, coupled with a steadfast commitment to creativity, exploration, growth, and advancement.

He has successfully registered a domestic patent and completed an international patent application (PCT) for a "shape-shifting wheel" capable of navigating challenging terrains, such as uneven surfaces during disaster situations. Leveraging this technology, Able Motors is currently developing 4-legged robots designed for disaster response, off-road capabilities, and military applications. Additionally, the company has ventured into government projects, successfully developing a transmission system, with plans to extend its application to electric vehicles.

Having initially established a presence in China in 2010 to benefit from cost advantages like reduced labor and production expenses, the company returned to Korea in response to a reshoring proposal from government agencies in 2019. After a preparatory period, Able Motors was founded in 2021.This year, leveraging the wealth of experience accumulated over time, Able Motors is gearing up to unveil a diverse range of new products. The company is currently in the process of manufacturing carts suitable for golf courses or large apartment complexes with over 1,000 units, as well as electric wheelchairs designed to enhance mobility for individuals with transportation challenges.

Lee Kwang-ho has announced plans to introduce 15 to 20 prototypes of electric vehicles (EVs), encompassing MEVs (Micro Electric Vehicles), golf carts (2-seater, 5-seater), scooters, mountain bikes, and AI-based road-cleaning vehicles. With the substantial capital required for automotive production, the company aims to secure investments for mass production.

MEVs, characterized by affordability, maneuverability in narrow streets, and enhanced safety compared to two-wheelers, have found utility in various delivery services, particularly benefiting small businesses and local governments. As environmental awareness grows, the market is expected to expand further, especially with the adoption of personal mobility and second-car concepts.

However, according to Lee, the maturity of the market is anticipated to occur beyond the next three years. While acknowledging existing companies in the MEV market, he views the current phase as the initial market stage and foresees gradual expansion. Therefore, Able Motors has set a goal to release MEVs and compact cars by 2025.A key differentiation strategy for Able Motors lies in extending the driving range of its vehicles. Lee mentioned, "The average range for current MEVs is around 80-85 km. This presents challenges in charging during deliveries. As a latecomer to the market, we are developing vehicles that can cover 120 to 150 km on a single charge under the same conditions.

"The company has also outlined an international sales strategy, opting for local production. Lee explained, "For exports, rather than manufacturing the entire vehicle, we plan to have local partners handle assembly, production, sales, and after-sales service. The Korean headquarters will focus on product design and development, quality education, and core component sourcing, such as transmissions and power systems, aiming to launch new vehicles worldwide." This approach aligns with the goal of exporting to over 80 countries globally, establishing Able Motors as a global player.According to Fortune Business, the global MEV market is projected to grow at a rate of 12.7%, increasing from $9.57 billion in 2022 to $22.11 billion by 2029.
