At InnoTrans in Berlin, HARTING is presenting connectivity and cabling solutions for power and data transmission in rail vehicles, infrastructure and signalling systems. In Hall 12, Stand 310, the technology group is showcasing connectors for bogie and car-to-car coupling systems, Ethernet solutions and components for Digital Automatic Coupling (DAC). The leading trade fair for the rail industry is celebrating its 30th anniversary and will be focusing on electrification and digitalisation from 22 to 25 September 2026.

A particular highlight at the HARTING stand is the new BETAtrans® DATA-ENX CAT 5 Ethernet cable: in the case of a fire, it maintains data communication for up to 120 minutes. For rail vehicles, where reliable communication in an emergency can save lives, this is a crucial advantage. The cable transmits data at speeds of up to 1 Gbit/s and is Power-over-Ethernet-compatible.

At the same time, the optimised BETAtrans® GKW-ENX cable demonstrates how installation space and weight can be reduced without compromising on performance or robustness. Compared to standard cables, it saves up to 40 per cent in installation space and 28 per cent in weight. In addition, there are inter-car coupling systems: these combine power and data transmission between carriages and are also suitable for modernisation projects.

HARTING is also showcasing Ethernet solutions for vehicles and signalling technology. Demonstrators illustrate how Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) can be integrated into railway applications. SPE cables transmit the same volume of data as conventional 8-core Ethernet cables, whilst weighing around a third less per kilometre.

Furthermore, HARTING is showcasing solutions for Digital Automatic Coupling. These include, amongst other things, components for retrofitting freight wagons – such as distribution boxes, cabling and mounting solutions. DAC equips freight wagons with end-to-end power and data lines for the first time, making rail freight transport ready for automated operational processes.
